🔥 Breaking 🔥 ⁣ ⁣ “For such a time as t

🔥 Breaking 🔥 ⁣

“For such a time as this” should not be the most highlighted verse in Esther. ⁣
⁣
Everyone quotes it ... especially lately. ⁣
⁣
It implies that everyone will arrive at a defining, God ordained moment in time where we leave our mark on history. ⁣
⁣
And while that may be true at some point, this is not the most imperative verse in the book.⁣
⁣
The defining verse is Esther’s response to her “For such a time as this” moment. ⁣
⁣
The lives of millions of Jews was in jeopardy and she was the only one in that moment who could stand in for them. ⁣
⁣
But ... she didn’t know if she would live or die. ⁣
⁣
And that’s why, as she faced a defining moment that would determine her fate and the fate of her people, she said, “If I perish, I perish.” ⁣
⁣
Esther struggled in her moment. She wrestled with her “For such a time as this”.⁣
⁣
The things God calls us to are scary and in a lot of ways they require we risk something. ⁣
⁣
But if we do not answer with “If I perish, I perish”, the moment will pass and all we’ll be left with is a missed opportunity to rise to the occasion. ⁣
⁣
If someone tells you God brought you here “for such a time as this”, but they do not tell you the cost ... they’re not telling you the whole story. ⁣
⁣
Your “For such a time as this” can only be accomplished if you’re willing to do hard things and say, “If I perish, I perish.” ⁣
⁣
It’s not about you. ⁣
⁣
It’s not about leaving YOUR mark on history. ⁣
⁣
It’s about bringing glory to God as you stand up in the moment of uncertainty because the cause is too great to allow the moment to pass you by. ⁣
⁣
You can do whatever God calls you to if you’re willing to lay it all down, knowing He is in control of the outcome. ⁣
⁣
“If I perish, I perish” ... the most powerful words in Esther. ⁣
⁣
⁣
⁣
⁣

Who can I blame? ⁣ ⁣ When it comes to predesti

Who can I blame? ⁣
⁣
When it comes to predestination vs freewill, the motive behind the debate is blame. ⁣
⁣
If I recognize my freewill, I have to take ownership. ⁣
⁣
If God predetermines every choice and outcome, He takes the blame and I can shake my fist at Him for the world’s depravity. ⁣
⁣
So, who’s at fault for the current condition of humanity? ⁣
⁣
The blame game is inherited and can be traced all the way back to Eden. ⁣
⁣
Adam blamed God for giving him the woman who caused him to sin. ⁣
⁣
The woman blamed the serpent for deceiving her. ⁣
⁣
And now many blame God for the world’s moral depravity brought about by their own freewill. ⁣
⁣
But just as Adam and Eve were given a choice, you and I also have a choice. And where there’s a choice, there’s freewill. ⁣
⁣
And with every choice, a predetermined consequence or judgment awaits as the outcome. ⁣
⁣
Think of it in terms of causality: every effect has a cause .. every choice has an outcome. ⁣
⁣

If God knew Adam and Eve would eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, why did He put it there?⁣

If there was no tree, there was no choice. ⁣

Every Christ follower is mandated to contend for the faith. ⁣

To contend means to struggle. ⁣
⁣
Christianity is not passive or complacent. It’s always been a fight because it involves souls. ⁣
⁣
The assured victory of the church does not mean we don’t have to fight to win. It means we fight all the more because the threat is also from within the church. ⁣
⁣
How do you contend for the faith today?⁣
⁣
Our weapons are not carnal. You don’t fight spiritual battles with physical means. ⁣
⁣
We are to: ⁣
⁣
Fight the good fight as a good soldier of Jesus Christ (2 Tim 6:11-21)⁣
⁣
Run as though only one wins and you are to receive the prize (1 Cor 9:24-27) ⁣
⁣
Strive for the faith (Phil 1:27)⁣
⁣
Read the Truth. Know the Truth. Stand for Truth. ⁣
⁣
Demolish every argument (2 Cor 10:5)⁣
⁣
Step up to the marketplace of ideas and engage the culture instead of consume it. ⁣
⁣
Like it or not, you are in a spiritual battle. You may as well be on the winning side and contend for the faith. ⁣

One of the blessings of being a Christian in America is that we don’t know suffering for the name of Jesus. ⁣
⁣
But the tides are changing. ⁣
⁣
In fact, we don’t like to talk about how every NT writer besides John the apostle was martyred for being a Christian. ⁣
⁣
And don’t think he had it easy. He was boiled in oil and exiled to the Island of Patmos where he wrote the book of Revelation. ⁣
⁣
He suffered well. In fact, they all did. ⁣
⁣
American Christianity has become so watered down, we don’t know what suffering is. And we think those who proclaim the name of Jesus are immune to it. ⁣
⁣
This is dangerous. Why? ⁣
⁣
Besides being unbiblical (one of the themes of the NT is suffering, ie trials and testing), it misleads followers of Christ to believe they will never suffer. ⁣
⁣
Jesus said to count the cost of being a follower. What’s the cost? A form of suffering. ⁣
⁣
Everyone will suffer. That’s not the question. The question is will we suffer well? ⁣
⁣
Whether it be a result of a life lived in a fallen world or because of our testimony and stance for truth ... we will experience some form of suffering. ⁣
⁣
Will we suffer well and will we stay eternally focused knowing that what we experience in this life pales in comparison to what awaits us in glory? ⁣
⁣

Suffering looks different to each one of us: discomfort, pain, strife, waiting, worry, grief.

My friend @missy_linkletter_ has experienced suffering in a way I hope I never do.

Suffering isn’t something I ever hear anyone ask for, and Missy has walked through days of grief and experienced God’s sustaining presence because of it.
